THE MOHRR'GAZELLE
http://www.imagineanimals.com
It is believed there are no Mhorr’s gazelles remaining in the wild.
At one time, these sleek animals, the largest of all true gazelles, roamed the harsh deserts of northwest Africa in herds that ranged in size from 10 – 100 animals. Their former natural habitat was the Sahara desert areas of Morocco. But due to over hunting, they are now considered extinct in the wild.
In 1971, the World Wildlife Fund created a reserve in Spain for the gazelles in order to preserve their remaining population. Then, as the captive numbers increased, they were distributed to other facilities in order to protect them from any natural disasters that might occur.
Mhorr’s gazelles are found in only a handful of these facilities around the world. There are now approximately 150 in captivity.

- George G Vest
